XBOX ONE BEATS PS4 SALES WITH 1.2 MILLION SALES IN NOVEMBER
Since the start of the eight generation of video game consoles, sony's PlayStation 4 has dominated the sales charts by selling for more units in major markets than Microsoft Xbox One; but no more. The redmond-based consoles manufacturer has finally pounded back. After resting on the second position on the monthly sales charts for nearly a year, the Xbox One home console has finally taken the lead by selling more units to the consumers compared to the PS4 last month.
According to the lastest NPD data drop, the Xbox One trapped the top and became the most selling console in both the US and the UK for november, Geekwire confirmed that Microsoft sold 1.2 Million units in the U.S while unconfirmed reports suggest that sony managed to deliver around 800,000 units in november. The much-needed push was apparently the result of Microsoft's strategy of dropping the price of the Xbox One and releasing value -focused console and video game bundles during the holiday season. Black Friday sales also largely contributed in raising the mark.
Microsoft's Corporate Vice President of Xbox Marketing, Mike Nichols, acknowledged the Xbox One's new record for monthly sales, and shared some interesting facts.
Both the PS4 and Xbox One are increasingly similiar consoles, except that sony has been on the top since the start and did near to no good to the PS4 console, but on the other hand, Microsoft has been working hard by listening to user's feedback. The redmond-based platform holder revised its polices during the time and slashed a $100 from the standered Xbox One retail cost by axing the Kinect Sensor. Furthermore, the company reduced the price by $50 more, selling it by around $330 during the Thanksgiving season. Just around a month ago, Microsoft announced that the Xbox One had sold 10 million consoles worldwide, and thanks to Black Friday sales and alluring console bundles, the Xbox One now stands at the top of november console sales charts.
NPD report also states that hardware bundles contributed majorly in the sales of hardware last month. The sales of PS and Xbox One console are now reported to be around 80 percent higher than the combined total of the PS3 and Xbox 360 sales after 13 months on the market.
The NPD Group also released its list of top 10 games that were sold at november. Note that that the consoles listed in the parenthesis next to each game representthe best-selling to worst-selling SKU for that specific title.
